Leonhard Keck Sr., his wife Florence and their son Leonhard Jr. travelled to Germany last August to revisit the places where Leonhard had been captured and liberated during the war. I met them in Hitdorf, where we spent several days. From there we drove up to the town of Plettenberg, along with Julius Busch, a resident of Hitdorf and a good friend. We found the air raid bunker where Leonhard was kept as a POW and where he and about 30 other A Company members were liberated on April 13, 1945, by the US 86th Infantry Division, 343rd Infantry Regiment.
